Nothing can give a company a better image among it’s customers who hunt than sponsoring public hunting on the company’s private land. Many corporations own large swaths of forested land or fielded land that is empty and they are not currently using, or plan to use anytime soon. Companies that own hundreds or thousands of acres can usually open the land to public hunting by contacting the state wildlife office when the land is located.
Some states provide a limited insurance coverage for the landowner who allows public hunting on private land. Assistance can also be obtained in the form of signage, permission slips, patrols, mapping, and general advice about what types of hunting the land is suitable for.
Each year there is less and less public land available for hunting. Hunting on public lands tends to attract blue collar, working class individuals. If these are your company’s target customer, your company may want to look into sponsoring public hunting the next time an effort is made to give back to the community.
This will give your company excellent exposure on hunting forums, and the goodwill gesture will be a unique public relations move they honestly helps the community by opening up more land to public hunting for individuals that cannot spend thousands for a guided weekend experience with an outfitter.
